RALLY SWEDEN 2010, LEG TWO FOR KIMI R.
Nothing fishy for Kimi on day two of Rally Sweden…Take some herrings. Stick them in a barrel for a couple of months. Then remove and put them into a can.
Leave for anything up to a year. When the can starts bulging, you know that enough gas has built up from the rotting fishy cadavers to enjoy them at the peak of their putrefaction.
Serve with raw diced onion and flat bread, possibly accompanied by a garnish of dill and tomatoes for that sophisticated touch.
Drink with some refreshing cold milk. Give or take a bit, this is the traditional recipe for ‘surstromming’: a northern Swedish speciality. The taste has been diplomatically described by connoisseurs as ‘pungent’ – reminiscent of a cross between rotten egg and rancid butter.
A more accurate label would simply be ‘disgusting’. It’s so bad that a number of airlines have banned it from their flights and you can no longer buy it at Stockholm Airport.
Anyone brave enough to try this decomposing delicacy will taste nothing else for days.
But Red Bull driver Kimi Raikkonen’s second day on Rally Sweden left anything other than a sour taste in his mouth.
With a series of promising stage times, including one sixth-fastest time in the afternoon, the 2007 Formula 1 World Champion proved that he is starting to get the hang of automotive speed skating on snow and ice.
“Yes, it was really good,” said Kimi after only his second full day on a World Championship rally. “I didn’t like the first stage this morning so much; then we stalled the engine and got stuck for a little bit on the second stage. After then it all went really well for me; it was a nice day. I’m feeling more confident with the car and we had no problems at all. I always knew that finding the right driving style would take a bit of time, but now it is gradually coming. Hopefully we can have a strong final day tomorrow; I’m feeling quite confident.”
Despite temperatures that bordered on the Baltic – a bit like Scandinavia itself – co-driver Kaj Lindstrom was also in an upbeat mood. Kaj knows proper speed when he sees it as one of his previous chauffeurs was four-time World Rally Champion Tommi Makinen.
Kimi is quite a different creature to Tommi but they’re both heroes in Finland: and they’ve both already proved to be a favourite of the spectators on Rally Sweden.
“You can’t really compare Kimi to Tommi but one thing they have in common is that they both have fantastic natural speed,” said Kaj, whose favourite fashion accessory is a Red Bull bobble hat.
“You can always improve your technique and together with Kimi this is something that we are trying to do, but you can’t actually learn the speed. Today really showed how when you combine the right speed with the right technique things begin to come together. I’ve been very impressed by Kimi’s progress and we’re going to build on this in future.”

いっぱいいっぱいになりながらライコさんを応援してた皆様お疲れさまですー
一生懸命追いかけてはいるものの、あれ、私ってちゃんとF1自体が好きだったんだ!とか色々思うところがあったりなかったりしつつWRCを見ています。
元々このブログって感想書きなぐるのが主だったから、ついったーで書いて終わりになっちゃうんだよねぇ…ついったーやってブログ書く機会が減った、ってことをオカシイとか怠慢だって言う人がいますけど、ブログの性格によるんだと思う。私はもともと情報載せていくブログではなかったので、見事に激減。
脱線した。
2009年ラリーフィンランドのときは、ライブに近いタイミングでMTV3がストリーミングしてくれてた(10ユーロくらい)ので、今回も申し込もうと思いきや…

3分クッキングみたいのやってる
当たり前ですが、スポーツニュース以外はまったくもってフツーのテレビ番組が放送されていました。←でもいい加減ラリー飽きてきて真剣に見てたｗ 天気予報が異常に細かかったり、バター入れすぎ乳製品入れすぎに吹いたりたのしかったです
そんなわけで、WRC公式のラジオ+タイミング+twitter+その他もろもろ…で追いかけておりましたが、あの、F1をライブで見てる感覚って、ほんっとに特別ないくすぺりあんすなんですね。今まで甘えてたよ、っていうより、あの独特の緊張感と一体感が楽しくて見てたんじゃないかしら。
ライブ映像がないから、とにかくタイミングをみて、ラジオ全然わかんないのにキミとかライコネンとか言わないかどうか一生懸命聞いて、少しでも早く動画がみたくて探して、ステージとステージの間がなんか落ち着かなかったり…みたいな。
妄想で補えみたいな。
twitterで何人かこういうこと書いてらっしゃるかたがいましたが、正直、いままでもWRCって見たことなかったし、他カテ(GP2とか)もあんまり一生懸命見るほうじゃないし、モータースポーツっていうよりあの”F1″ていうトータルパッケージが好きなんだろうなぁ自分って思いました。
キミはすっごく楽しそうだけど私はいまのところとってもつらいですorz
はやくラリーを楽しめるようになりますように!他のドライバーとか、覚えるといいのかなぁ。

今日はこれからTOKYOおでかけなので(本当)Day 2は張りつけないから、見てから仕度しようかな。

The secret life of polar bears…Polar bears – all 25,000 or so that are left in the world – enjoy playing in the snow and are the largest land mammals known to hunt humans, although they mostly prefer seals and walruses.
They live primarily in the United States, Canada, Russia and some parts of Scandinavia.
So the common image that many people have of cute polar bears walking around with fluffy penguins is in fact completely wrong: penguins live only in the Southern Hemisphere while polar bears exclusively inhabit the circumpolar north.
But you will not actually see any polar bears on the stages of Rally Sweden as the closest ones live in Norway. It’s also not true either that polar bears are as white as snow: each hair is in fact a clear hollow tube.
And while we’re on the subject, it’s another urban myth that polar bears cover their black noses to hide themselves better while they are out hunting.
These ursine facts have absolutely nothing at all to do with Red Bull driver Kimi Raikkonen’s progress on the opening day of the Rally Sweden, except possibly the fact that he too has been hunting humans – of the rally driver type – and been playing in the snow and ice. Nature and polar bears however are never predictable.
So it proved for Kimi when he had an unscheduled excursion into a snow bank on the sixth stage.
“Up until the stage before the last one today it was good,” summed up Kimi. “We just had a half-spin there and got stuck after we tried to turn the car round. The problem was that the windscreen was all misted up and we couldn’t see where we were going so we went off and got stuck in a snow bank. It’s a shame because we had no real problems up to then and the car was not damaged at all, but this is all part of the learning process. It’s really not easy, but I knew that before I came here of course. We’ll keep going and see what tomorrow brings.”
Co-driver Kaj Lindstrom said that he enjoyed his day. The sun was shining and whatever birds were brave enough to be out in the subzero temperatures were singing. So were the members of Kimi’s fan club outside the service area.
“What happened on SS6 was a bit irritating because it had all been going so well until then,” added Kaj. “If we had being going crazy then I would have understood it, but actually it was really sensible from the start: Kimi was concentrating hard, not making any mistakes and been driving perfectly. Then we had this stupid thing. But these things can happen and tomorrow is another day.”

ラリースウェーデンの冬のコンディションは、シーズン開幕戦のクルーにタフなタスクであるが、多くのドライバーは氷と雪の上でハイスピードで走ることを愛している。平均時速が120k/h以上にも達するステージと、スノーバンクの間を正確に縫うように走るレーシングラインにより、観客が息をのむような光景を目撃することは確実である。
2008年のJ-WRCチャンピオンと一緒に、デビューするのはキミ・ライコネンである。2009年に参加したいくつかのラリーイベントが、シトロエンジュニアチームとフルシーズンに参戦したいという願望をフィンランド人に与えた。いくつかのテストセッションと、Arctit Lapland Rallyで、キミ・ライコネンはシトロエンC4で600kmを走行した。「ラリースウェーデンのスタートが待ちきれないよ。シトロエンと、このイベントに向けていい準備をしてきた。既に走ってきた距離が、ラリーのスタートに向けて特別な心配をなくしてくれた。学ぶべきことと、蓄えるべき経験はまだたくさんあると分かっている。僕のゴールは、C4とただベストを尽くすことだけだよ。WRCへのデビューは僕の大きなチャレンジだけど、モータースポーツである程度のレベルで競ってきたドライバーは、同じようにやりたいし、同じようにプッシュしたいという願望を持ち続けているんだ。このチャレンジに挑む準備ができていると感じているよ。」

Kimi Raikkonen: “Things didn’t exactly get off to the best start as we went off the road during the second stage. But luckily there was no mechanical damage and I was able to continue in the rally. From there it got a lot better for me and we were much more consistent. We put a few more kilometres under our belt, which was vital to help us continue learning the C4 WRC. As well as being pleased by our performances I was also pleased by the way we were able to work with the team. We developed our set-up in the right direction and now we are going to continue our work in order to arrive in Sweden in the strongest possible position.”
Benoit Nogier(Citroen Racing Technologies team manager):“This practice event allowed the team to make more progress in preparation for the Rally Sweden. Dani drove exactly the sort of rally that we expected from him. He was fast and consistent, growing in confidence on the surface that comes least naturally to him. As for Kimi, he was quickly able to put his mishap at the start of the rally behind him and get to the end of a complex event, whilst improving at the same pace as Dani.”

ラップランドラリーはじまりましたね!
頼りのMTV3も中継なしとのことなので(twitterでフォローしてくれて知り合ったスオミっ娘たんがゆってました)、世界がLive Timingを見て妄想を繰り広げていたわけですが…
スタート見逃しちゃったのでキャプチャ画像をみせてもらいながら、Stage 1いいじゃん!と思っていたところ

雪に埋まって出られず、助けに行ける人が周りにいない、との情報。テラ心配した!
動揺のあまり、その後ガセ情報(ヘリコプター救助)まで掴まされる始末!
しかしなんとRAIさん御一行は観客に掘り起こしてもらい、
30分遅れでゴールに到達したのでした…RAIさんKajさんすごいよ
クラッシュ後にRAIさん「5じゃなかった」Kajさん「3だよ」と話をしてたという書き込みを後から拾いました。どうもキミの聞き間違いだったみたいですねえ
これはひどい。
「木と戦わなければ結構いい線いってたのに」などの会話がtwitterで飛び交う中、ライコチームの皆さんが超必死で直してくれていたみたいで(ラトバラさんのクルーが来てくれていたのですよね確か)、なんと次のStageから復活!!(ただし整備が少し遅延したので、ペナルティ加算)
クラッシュはStage 2だったので、次のStage 3まで3時間くらいあったんですよね。いやー段々と深夜になっていく日本の我々にとってはよかったんだか悪かったんだか…
Stage 4ではタイミングモニターが落ちて不安のどん底に突き落とされるなど、色々とつかれましたまじで。F1て恵まれた環境(てゆか、なんていうの?すぐ状況把握できるじゃん)でやってるのねえ。
ちなみにStage 5でラミ兄ちゃん(去年キミが買ったFIATで出場)もやらかしたらしく、兄弟揃って下位を爆走中です。兄ちゃんは去年のキミのペースノートを使っていて、何やらジョークゆっているようですね。いいぞもっとやれ。
↑ここまで書いたところで、実はStage 6のラミ兄ちゃんが来るのをJaamies*の@pieni_matiasさんと待っていました。(前のステージでげっぱだったために出走が後ろになったと思っていた)
